Pediatric Trauma Fellowship

The UCSF Pediatric Trauma Fellowship program is based at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Oakland.

The Department of Surgery offers a two-year training fellowship program in pediatric trauma. The goal of the program is to educate and train future academic, clinical, and research leaders in pediatric trauma. This fellowship provides clinical pediatric trauma experience as well as a clinical research opportunity that focuses on trauma outcomes, trauma quality improvement, and implementation science within the context of the national trauma system. The duration of this fellowship is 2 years, and the preferred starting date is July 1st.

Qualifications 

The applicant will have the following qualifications: 

  • Completion of at least 3 years of an ACGME-approved residency program in General Surgery
  • California Medical License
  • Personal Statement
  • Letter of reference from the program director
  • This program does not accept applicants requiring a J-1 visa.

Fellowship Training Activities

Fellows will have clinical experience on the General Pediatric Surgery and Trauma service, participate in didactic activities related to pediatric trauma, and have opportunities to develop and conduct their own independent research projects, participate in ongoing prospective observational trials, collaborate with our biostatistical team to design and implement large retrospective registry studies, as well as design and participate in multi-institutional trials.
